Champion for the Aging Award 2016

Nomination Criteria

  • The Champion for Aging Award is given annually to an advocate for older adults who has a proven track record in several of the following areas:
  • Has a longstanding commitment to advance the understanding of, and service to, our community’s aging population.
  • Has made an outstanding contribution toward the welfare of older adults in the areas of research, education, professional development, communications, public policy, public-private partnerships, advocacy or innovative programs or services.
  • Promotes a greater awareness of, and social responsibility for, the community’s aging population.
  • Works tirelessly to ensure that community resources are in place to advance the safety, health, dignity and well-being of older adults.
  • Has a history of leadership and influence that has improved the quality of life for area seniors.
  • Engages a variety of community resources to work together creatively on behalf of seniors, not only for the benefit of older adults but also for the organizations, service providers, families and communities that support them.
  • Works to ensure that the senior segment of the population is included in legislative and social deliberations that impact the rest of the general population.
  • Inspires others to advocate for seniors by implementing senior-specific programs, services or resources within their own businesses or professional practices.
  • Works to develop positive social attitudes toward older adults.
  • Holds a vision for the future of senior services, and works to equip current resources to meet the evolving needs of older adults.

Intent to Merge

ElderServe and GuardiaCare Announce Proposed Merger

The board of directors of ElderServe and GuardiaCare have announced an intent to merge.  Julie Guenthner, CEO of ElderServe, says, “This merger strengthens the community’s ability to meet the needs of seniors, who continue to be the fastest growing segment of our community.”  The expected date of the merger is no later than June 30, 2016.  If you have any questions, or would like more information, please contact Lisa Cobb at ltcobb@elderserveinc.org or 502.736.3825.

2015 Elf to an Elder

The 2015 Elf to an Elder program was an incredible success.  With the generosity of over 70 people, groups, and organizations we were able to brighten the holidays for over 170 older adults in our community.
